I started performing in 1993 after I saw Sonia Evans' performance at The Eurovision Song Contest. I always thought you had to be a "larger than life" type character however Sonia was extremely down to Earth - someone you could relate to. I figured I she could do it, then I could do it. I taught myself to sing by recording my attempts on a cheap karaoke machine with a record function - by singing along to LPs that were lying around the house (Elvis, Billy Joel, Jason Donovan among others), listening back and readjusting over and over again. Sometimes for up to 8 hours a day! In 1995 I bought a guitar and received lessons from local legend, Mick Davenport. I joined my first band 'Johnny Birth & The Controllers' in '96 and have been a member of many duos and bands over the years, as well as continuing with my solo work. I finally recorded my debut solo album in 2013 and I signed with BFS Records as part of 'A Little Bit Country' in 2015. We are currently mastering our debut album 'Whisky and Wine' and I am writing for my second album.
